Time To Catch Up

Today, after watching Sharon blow me away in the weight loss department (of course, that’s expected….she had the surgery 🙂 ), I’ve finally decided to get back to business.

Before the surgery, she used to drink Body Fortress Whey Protein shakes, but, now, her stomach doesn’t tolerate them well.  So, I’ve started using them for breakfast and lunch to get myself back on the road to the weight loss I so need to experience.

Today, I only consumed about 1,200 calories.  I have an allowance of 2,000 per day to lose the weight.  So, let’s see how it goes.  And, the cool thing was that I wasn’t really even hungry until dinner time.

I can’t wait to report how my body responds, and how the weight starts to come off again.  I’m back on my Journey To Health!

We Really Are Alive! We Promise!

We just realized that we haven’t posted an update about our Journey To Health since late October.  So, here we go…..

Steve has hit a plateau, and is hovering around the 30 lbs lost mark.  Please pray for encouragement and strength to continue this Journey and reach his goal of 200 lbs!

Sharon has continued to lose the weight.  In fact, she has lost so much weight that someone who hasn’t seen her in about 3 months didn’t even recognize her.  So, how much weight has Sharon lost?

97 pounds!!!

That’s right!  97 pounds are outta here!  Once she pass the 100 pounds lost mark, we will post new pictures.

Help us to continue on our journey to health, and we look forward to helping many of you do the same.

Go Sharon! Go Sharon! Go Sharon!

From the title of today’s post, can you guess who’s kicking but on her weight loss?

Sharon is on fire!

She has lost 65 lbs since July 31!

That’s SMMMMMMOKIN’!

Not every day is a day of weight loss victory, but, if you keep at it, keep track of your food, stay faithful to the plan, and have the encouragement of someone close, you can do it too!

Like I said last Friday, you gotta keep drinkin’ water, use the MyFitnessPal app, depend on your accountability partner, and stick to it.  It will be soooooooooo worth it!

Gotta Keep Drinking The Water

You gotta keep drinking the water!

why-drink-water-for-better-health_1

Over the past week, I’ve maintained my weight, but that’s not what I’m shooting for here.  Since starting this Journey To Health just over 6 weeks ago, I’ve dropped over 20 lbs.  The problem is that I have been at that same weight for over a week.

So, what have I done differently that has caused me to plateau recently?  I haven’t been eating too much more than I was the first 5 weeks, with the exception of a few bad things while Sharon was in the hospital recently.  My activity level hasn’t changed.  So, what could it be?

The only conclusion I can come to is that I haven’t been drinking my 8 glasses of water each day like I did at the beginning.  Everything I’ve read on weight loss stresses drinking 8 glasses of water every day.

So, starting today, I’m back on the water!  I know this isn’t what her song is about, but when Carrie Underwood sings, “There must be something in the water,” she’s right in so many different ways.

Remember, when you are on your Journey To Health, you gotta keep drinking the water!

What A Week (And, Yes, The Weekly Weigh In)

What a week!  In the last week, the weight loss has continued, the hospital got a visit, and we’re just glad the week is over.

To catch you all up on the last few days, and so you understand why I am so late in writing this post, Sharon was in the hospital for the better part of three days.  Friday evening, she was experiencing pain in her chest, and having difficulty eating or drinking.  She said it felt like there was something stuck in her esophagus.  After chest x-rays an a CT, nothing showed up, and her heart was fine, so, we chalked it up to just an irritated esophagus and went home.  After trying to rest all day Saturday, she started getting very nauseous and began vomiting.  This brought on the 2nd trip to the ER at Ocala Regional Medial Center in just 24 hours.  Thankfully, the doctor who was there the night before, who was absolutely wonderful, Dr. Killelea.  She remembered us right away, got us immediately, and went to work.  They did a chest CT, which did not show any blockage, but Sharon was still having the pain, so the doctor admitted Sharon.  Monday morning, an endoscopy was performed, showing a perfectly healthy looking esophagus and stomach.  The best guess is that there was food stuck, but by the time they did the endoscopy, it was gone.  Sharon is now eating fine, and keeping everything down.

For anyone who has had bariatric surgery recommended for them, do it.   Even with the occasional difficulties like Sharon had this past week, she’ll be the first to tell you that feeling better, looking better and getting healthy is more important than being uncomfortable for a few days.  If you are overweight, do these four things:

  • Download and use the “MyFitnessPal” app on your Android or iOS phone
  • Begin controlling your portion size when eating, and follow the recommendations  from the MyFitnessPal app for how many calories per day, how many carbs, etc., you should be consuming each day.
  • Log everything you eat into the MyFitnessPal app, and be honest.  Don’t cheat.  It won’t help you if you are not honest.
  • Talk to your doctor to find out if bariatric surgery is right for you.  (Yes, I know this line sounds like a pharmaceutical commercial 🙂 )

With all that said…………IT’S TIME FOR THE

WHAT A WEEK WEIGH IN!!!

As of today, since July 31, 2016, Sharon’s weight loss is 46.6 lbs!!!!!
